Infection Prevention and Control Lapses
An Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) lapse is a failure to follow IPAC practices resulting in a risk of transmission of infectious diseases to clients, attendees or staff through exposure to blood, body fluids, secretions, excretions, mucous membranes, non-intact skin, or contaminated equipment and soiled items.
Investigation reports of an infection prevention and control lapse that was received through a complaint, referral (e.g., from a regulatory college), or through disease surveillance are available below. This applies to personal service settings and settings not routinely inspected by a public health inspector including regulated health professionals such as physicians, dentists, or massage therapists.
There are no IPAC lapse reports at this time.
This website contains reports on premises where an infection prevention and control lapse was identified through the assessment of a complaint or referral, or through communicable disease surveillance. It does not include reports of premises which were investigated following a complaint or referral where no infection prevention and control lapse was ultimately identified.
These reports are not exhaustive, and do not guarantee that those premises listed and not listed are free of infection prevention and control lapses. Identification of lapses is based on assessment and investigation of premises at a point-in-time, and these assessments and investigations are triggered when potential infection prevention and control lapses are brought to the attention of the local medical officer of health.
Reports are posted on the website of the board of health in which the premises are located. Reports are posted on a premises-by-premises basis, i.e., will correspond with one site only. Should you wish to view a full investigation report for any posted lapse, please contact 613-732-3629 ext. 505 or environmentalhealth@rcdhu.com

Renfrew County and District Health Unit is required to publicly disclose each tobacco sale related conviction of a tobacco or vapour product retailer within two weeks of a conviction.
Beach Water Testing
Renfrew County and District Health Unit monitors the water quality at municipally owned or operated public bathing beaches. Monitoring is done weekly from June until August, and includes a visual inspection of beach conditions and testing for bacteria. Beaches with consistently good test results may be monitored once every two weeks.
Signs warning against swimming are posted when beach conditions pose a potential health risk to bathers. Most often the posting of a beach is due to high levels of bacteria in the water.
