Physical Activity

Regular physical activity is important for good health. Physical activity gives us physical and mental health benefits and reduces our risk of developing chronic diseases.

Children and youth should have healthy sleep habits (practices that help them sleep well), limit sedentary behaviours (especially screen time), and take part in different physical activities in a variety of places. For more information, please visit Government of Canada’s 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children and Youth: An integration of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep.

See Canada’s Physical Activity Guidelines for other age groups at the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology.
