Super Snacks For Kids

¨    diluted apricot or prune nectar
¨      rice cake spread with peanut butter.
¨      strawberry spotted cow: milk, frozen strawberries, and wheat germ whirled in a blender
¨      panic button: a sliced hard cooked egg on dark rye bread
¨      cereal mix-up: a mixture of dry whole.grain cereals.
¨      cottage cheese topped with sliced fruit
¨      fresh fruit in season
¨      water on the rocks
¨      blueberry dots: add partially thawed. frozen blueberries to plain yogurt .
¨      cucumber slices .
¨      crackers (soda, rice cakes, melba toast, whole grain crackers or crisp breads).
¨      tomato sections.
¨      real fruit bubbly: soda water mixed with frozen fruit juice concentrate
¨      wagon wheel: half a bagel topped with peanut butter or soft cheese
¨      apple sauce
¨      toasted waffle with peanut butter.
¨      sesame breads ticks
¨      a slice of pumpkin bread.
¨      grapefruit or orange sections .
¨      quickie pizza: spread half an English.muffin with tomato sauce, top with cheese. and broil
¨      devilled egg
¨      zucchini slices
¨      popsicles made with fruit juice or 2 1/2 . cups plain yogurt blended with 1 small can of frozen juice concentrate
¨      banana dog: split a banana, fill with peanut butter, then place in a hot dog bun, cut into quarters. bran or oatmeal muffin
¨      Aloha: cheese cubes in crushed pineapple.
¨      unsweetened fruit juices: apple, grape, tomato, orange, grapefruit or cranberry
¨      green pepper sticks .
¨      vegetable juice.
¨      crunchy cheese: cheddar cheese between two crackers

Good eating habits are established early. Choose nutritious snacks, like the ones listed above. As a general guide, think of two to three snacks a day as a healthy snacking pattern.

Eat a wide variety of foods for snacks instead of serving the same snacks over and over again. This helps us get a good variety of vitamins and minerals, and not too much sugar, fat and salt.
