Food
Safety
Aims to reduce the
incidence of food-borne illness by promoting and ensuring the
use of safe food handling practices. Activities include inspection
of all food premises, provision of Food Handler Training courses,
and response to food-related complaints.
Rabies
Control
Aimed at preventing
the occurrence of rabies in humans. Staff provide rabies information
in the community and promoted vaccination of cats and dogs. Surveillance,
investigation of biting incidents and exposures to potentially
rabid animals, and provision of post-exposure anti-rabies treatment
are also requirements of the program.
Safe
Water
Aimed at reducing
the incidence of water-borne illness. Staff maintain an inventory
of public drinking water systems, monitor water test results,
advise the public as to protective measures in the event of adverse
test results, interpret test results for owner/occupiers of private
water systems, inspect and advise on remedial measures for troublesome
wells, and inspect beaches.
